Updates on Neighbourhood Security Scheme
Since the residents' gathering on May 09, 2009, we are really really pleased to inform all residents in our neighbourhood that the scheme will take off soon! Its a journey that the majority of residents have embarked on and though long and winding it may be, I believe we have made excellent progress! Lots more need to be done and we will certainly welcome more 'hands & legs' to re-inforce our objectives.

At our May 09, '09 Neighbourhood Security Get Together
Whilst we wished one and all a happy Mothers' Day and Wesak Day on May 09, 2009 your RT SS2B laid out plans for residents to implement a neighbourhood security scheme spelt out in an earlier Newsletter. Our simple gathering was officiated by our ADUN for Damansara Utama, Dr. Cheah. The SeaPark Police was also present to answer queries. We also thank Dr. Cheah for his monetary pledge of support and more importantly we want to thank all residents for their presence.

Neighbourhood Security Scheme
Towards A Safer Neighbourhood
Since our last newsletter in March, we now propose to residents a Neighbourhood Security Scheme. With participation by some well-meaning residents we have conducted an open tender and have selected the security company most suited to our needs.
The proposal is to operate at least 3 security bases (pondoks) with roaming guards (day time) and some roads will be closed (at night) in stages. Under the scheme, about 8 exit points may be closed from 12 midnight to 6.00 am. During these times, unfamiliar vehicles at the 3 main entrances will be registered by the guards.
There will be some inconveniences at certain times and localities and we ask for the understanding of residents concerned for the sake of the common good.
The minimum requirement for the 3 bases is 7 guards (3 for daytime and 4 for night duty) on 12-hour shifts. We propose that link houses, semi-Ds and bungalows contribute amounts of $50, $55 and $60 per month respectively. Identification tags and stickers will be issued to participating houses. We urge all residents to join so that sufficient guards can be engaged for more effective security.
RT, set up by the government primarily to promote neighbourliness and social integration, cannot enter into service contracts with 3rd parties. RT will however bear some initial expenses to help start the scheme. Depending on the overall response, the committee will then be able to advise whether we are able to proceed as proposed.
For a start, each household will make 3 months’ advance payment according to the proposed rates:
Link house $50x3 $150
Semi- D $55x3 $165
Bungalow $60x3 $180
The amount is to be made in a crossed cheque, payable to:
Forceone Security Sdn Bhd
On the reverse side of the cheque, please state:
Name:
Address:
Tel number:
For this initial exercise, RT will hold the cheques in custody pending the start of the scheme. The cheques will be returned if the security scheme does not take off.
You may drop your cheque, together with the return slip, in the letter box of our committee member Mr. Ong Chin Hock at: No. 57, SS2/43 soonest possible but not later than 12th May 2009.
Some committee members/zone representatives in your immediate area may also call on you the next few days, in which case you may pass the cheques to them.
For more information, and to meet the security company’s representatives, please come to our briefing on:
9th May 2009 (Saturday) 4.30pm.
