Updates on Neighbourhood Safety

Eversince our RT SS2B Committee & some residents met Chief Inspector Sahar of SEA Park Police some three weeks ago, our neighbourhood has come under 'attack' in terms of attempted house break-ins, threats as well as actual break-ins and robberies! It would thus appear that this recent spate of events is an open defiance to the Police and has also 'cowed' our residents (pardon the expression since this is also the Year of the Ox) into 'hiding' behind locked gates and fences! But as they say, everyday life must go on lah! Last evening was no different when there was a break-in along Jalan SS2/38 at maybe between 8-9 pm! In the same evening some residents alerted each other when they saw 5 burly guys on motor-cycles hanging out at the SS2/41 'pondok'! As it turned out, and after some checkings with the Police, these were actually plain-clothes Policemen doing their rounds. I think this is one example of neighbourhood networking with respect to security and instead of letting the 'suspicious' sighting pass, residents inform each other of what they see! So, in case of doubt, do call the SEA Park Police at 03-78751382 Chin up and look forward to seeing you all at the Residents' Meeting on March 07, 2009 at 5.30 pm at SS2/41 Field; Till then, be alert and be safe!

Some Pictures on Security Ideas

Look After Your 'GPS' too!

This gives us something to think about with all our new electronic technology - GPS
A couple of weeks ago a friend told me that someone she knew had their car broken into while they were at a football
match. Their car was parked on the green which was adjacent to the football stadium and specially allotted to football fans.

Things stolen from the car included a garage door remote control, some money and a GPS which had been prominently
mounted on the dashboard.

When the victims got home, they found that their house had been ransacked and just about everything worth anything had been stolen.
The thieves had used the GPS to guide them to the house. They then used the garage remote control to open the garage door and gain entry to the house.
The thieves knew the owners were at the football game, they knew what time the game was scheduled to finish and so they knew how much time they had to
clean up the house. It would appear that they had brought a truck to empty the house of its contents.

Breaking 'Crime' News - SS2B Under 'Attack' ! Be Alert!

There has been a spate of crimes during recent days in SS2B neighbourhood. Yesterday, a silver-coloured 'MYVI' WPB 43 was robbed along SS2/32 at about 6.30 pm and the person lost some valuables too- to two guys in a 'Proton' armed with a 'parang' each. This evening, 4 persons on two motor bikes plus a 'parang' each robbed a family of 5 along SS2/43 at about 9.30 pm. On both occasions, residents called RT Committee members who immediately alerted the Police.
It would appear that urgent consideration has now to be given to 'gating and guarding' the neighbourhood. Invariably, this may give rise to some inconvenience and costs but security is now paramount! Security has always been our area of emphasis but we need co-operation of all residents too. Until new measures are in place to deter crimes, please be EXTRA ALERT during these times!
